Tony Wickenden

Role

Tony`s consultancy work encompasses the design and implementation of technical tax and legal and marketing solutions and strategies for product providers and advisers in the insurance, investment and pensions markets. His strategic work involves market assessment and deloping sales, products, professional development and strategies for insurance companies, banks and fund management groups. He advises businesses both in and outside the UK. Tony is responsible for designing content for Techlink

Tony regularly contributes articles on tax planning to various journals as well as making guest attendances as a speaker at various financial services, tax and trust conferences so as to promote and develop the business` brands.


John Woolley

Qualifications

Role

John regularly contributes articles on tax planning to various journals as well as making guest attendances as a speaker at various financial services and tax conferences

John represents the business on industry bodies and in the technical press.

John`s immense experience and technical knowhow have made him an invaluable first point of contact for many clients and a source of information and development for Technical Connection consultants.


David Redfern

Qualifications

Role

David contributes across a range of consultancy areas with special responsibility for quality assurance on outgoing material. David also is an active member of our Financial Planners Support and advisory teams.

Career History

Formerly a life and pensions tutor at the CII College of Insurance. Acted as examiner and moderator for the CII on life subjects

For 14 years, Senior Technical Officer at Merchants Investors Assurances Co which became MI Group. Responsibilities included checking all life documentation against specifications, liasing with the Inland Revenue on certification and drafting all policy endorsements

Joined Technical Connection in September 1989.


Barbara Gardener

Qualifications

  • Research Diploma in Advanced Insurance Studies

  • TEP - Trusts and Estates Practitioner

Role

Barbara leads projects and project teams and has great experience in designing and implementing trust and trust based strategies. Barbara has also worked extensively with clients in product and product package development. Design and delivery of professional development programmes for advisors is another speciality. Barbara is also a prominent speaker for the Society of Financial Advisers (SOFA).

Career History

Over a 10 year period Barbara held positions as an underwriter, head of claims and head of technical services for four life offices.

Barbara`s last position prior to joining Technical Connection was a Technical Manager at Australian Mutual Provident. Her responsibilities there included design and presentation of training courses and on-going training for direct sales force

John Page

Role

John`s extensive pensions experience means that, combined with Dave`s skills, our Pensions Consultancy Unit is truly leading edge. John has a deep understanding of all the key pensions issues of today and is a true industry leader in this immensely complex subject.

Career History

John has spent all his working life (since 1971) in pensions. He has worked for the following companies: Legal & General, Hambro Life (now Allied Dunbar), Merchant Investors, Hill Samuel Life and M&G.

John has wide experience of the pensions market (group and individual, money purchase and defined benefits, insured and selfinvested etc.) He is a frequent commentator on industry issues/developments in the trade press as well as providing articles for pension publications. He is a regular speaker at conferences (including the SOFA National Conference).

Joined Technical Connection in September 1999.


Dapo Laifa

Role

Dapo`s breadth of experience of taxation, personal financial planning and employee benefits enables him to provide a wide range of consultancy support to our clients. These attributes also enhance his ability to construct professional development programmes, test and contribute extensively to knowledge management.

Career History

Dapo has spent the last 15 years within the financial industry. Starting in the National Insurance Office he has worked for the Inland Revenue assessing and collecting tax from higher paid employers and company directors.

In 1989 he entered into the private sector working for Morley & Scott, Chartered Accountants, before spending 7 years at Sedgwick Noble Lowndes providing support on tax matters to both independent financial advisors and employee benefit consultants.

Joined Technical Connection in July 1998.


Derek Lovell

Qualifications

  • PG Dip - Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
  • LLB (Hons) - Law

Role

Derek`s primary responsibility is the design, presentation and the developments and maintenance of, the content for and structure and operation of, Techlink Interactive and Techlearn. His experience in, and creative approach to taxation and on-line technology is invaluable in developing both Techlink and Techlearn.

Career History

Joined Technical Connection directly from University in January 1997.
